Challenge League Sixth Round

Tokiwagi Gakuen High School  0 - 1  Norddea Hokkaido
(Attendance: 150)

This game was played on May 10th

Tokiwagi Gakuen missed the chance to go top after a determined display from Norddea Hokkaido saw them not only shut out the schoolgirls but also snatch a surprise victory at the death. Playing into very strong winds in the first half, Norddea could barely get the ball out of their own half and it seemed inevitable that the home side would score, but tight marking on the Tokiwagi forwards prevented them from scoring.

In the second half with the roles reversed, Norddea had a much better time of it with the wind at their backs and again managed to snuff out the chances that Tokiwagi created. The visitors had two very good chances - one blazed over the bar, another hitting the post - before they took the lead in additional time to great acclaim from their travelling supporters. A corner kick knocked into the box by Hoshiyama Ayaka was attacked by both Narumi Wakana and Watanabe Mayuko, with the former credited with the goal, which just crossed the line.

Norddea head back north with three valuable points, which put them fourth, two points and one position behind Tokiwagi Gakuen.

Watanabe Azusa in goal for Norddea saves from Kobayashi Rikako,
against whom defensive physicality bordered on the extreme

Sanogawa Yuri skillfully dribbles through the Tokiwagi Gakuen midfield

A clear cut chance for Hoshiyama Ayaka goes begging as she blasts over the bar

Arita Hitoe coped well against Kobayashi's speed and was able to prevent clear shots on goal

Playing into the wind Tokiwagi Gakuen had fewer chances,
here Takahashi Anna can't quite put the ball away

In the final moments, a shock goal for the visitors:
Narumi Wakana and Watanabe Mayuko both head goalwards...

Ono Asuka did well to block the ball in difficult conditions, but it spilled loose...

Suzuki Hinako is just unable to clear the ball before it crosses the line. Two weeks after a three-goal loss at home to the same opposition, Norddea Hokkaido go home with three precious points
